Former Cougar, NFL lineman joins Blaze ownership group

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze is pleased to announce that Jason Buck, former Brigham Young University & NFL lineman, will be joining the Blaze's ownership group starting this 2011 season. Buck will be the third member of the Blaze's ownership group, joining Logan Hunter and Kristin Murdock.

"The Blaze have been continually gaining momentum in building a high-caliber football club over the past few months," said new Blaze Owner Jason Buck. "The professionalism and experience of the coaching staff, the extremely competitive roster, in addition to the commitment of the organization from the ground up, were all components in my decision to become a part of the team."

Buck played collegiately at BYU where he earned the Outland Trophy in 1986. He was 17th selection by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 1987 Draft. He later moved to the Washington Redskins in 1991 where he earned a Super Bowl ring in the team's 37-24 victory over the Bufallo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI. Buck retired in 1993.

"The addition of Buck to our ownership group exemplifies the commitment we have to our fans," said Blaze President Bill Gibson. "We have made huge changes across multiple facets this offseason to showcase our dedication to building a professional football team that the state of Utah can be proud of."

Since retiring from the NFL, Buck has stayed active in the football world by being an analyst for the regional CBS, NBC and FOX networks in addition to coaching his two son's. Buck has also been an inspirational speaker for various universities, corporations and groups throughout the United States.

The Utah Blaze enter their fifth season in the Arena Football League in 2011 and were recipients of the Best Support Staff Award for the 2006 and 2007 seasons as recognized by the League office. The Blaze's home opener versus the Tampa Bay Storm is slated for Thursday, March 17th at 7:30 p.m. (MT) at EnergySolutions Arena.
