(KSL News) Falling in love can be a costly affair, but Utah courts have a warning: You can't get a refund on lost love.

The Utah Court of Appeals rejected a man's request to recover thousands of dollars from his ex-fiance. He sued for breach of contract and wants compensation for gifts he gave her while they were engaged.

The court ruled the engagement is a "test period," not a binding agreement. They also point out the young lover didn't lose everything: His fiance did return the ring.
