Disabled Man Drowns in Bathtub

(KSL News) There was a drowning at the Utah State Developmental Center in American Fork today.

The center, formely known as the state Training School, serves the mentally disabled. Carol Sisco with the Department of Human Services tells us a 30-year-old man at the facility drowned in his bathtub.

She says he was allowed to shower on his own, with the condition workers checked on him every five minutes. A worker did check on him this evening, but minutes later when the worker returned, the man was face down in the tub.

An investigation is underway to determine what went wrong.
