Fire Restrictions Issued for Areas West of I-15

Get out a map and shade in everything west of I-15 in Utah, that's where you won't be able to light a campfire on public lands after Monday.

Kathy Jo Pollock of the U.S. Forest Service says, "With the Fourth of July coming up, the big camping weekends, we figured that it would be best to try get the word out, at least a week or so early, and go ahead and put fire restrictions into those areas."

Pollock says hot weather is quickly drying out grasses, especially at lower elevations in the west. If the weather continues, Pollock says there may be more restrictions to the east.
