(KSL News) There was an accident tonight after what police initially believed was a carjacking in Salt Lake City.

The car was taken by force in the area of 4th west and 4th south. It ended at 9th west and 5th south, and it's lucky no one was seriously injured.

The man who stole the black Acura plowed into two other cars. The most seriously injured was a 76-year-old woman who was in the red car that was hit. She suffered a bruise to the head and was taken to the hospital.

Investigators now have ruled out the idea that this was a carjacking.

Lt. Gary Layton, with the Salt Lake Police Department, said, "We're finding out in our investigation now that it was not a carjacking, that the two individuals were acquainted in some way, had been together in the past some time. And so we're still looking into exactly how this started and why."

The suspect faces a slew of charges and police are talking to the man who owns the car, to determine just what happened.
