(KSL News) Runners in tomorrow's Wasatch Back Relay will be joined by the recipient of today's High 5 surprise.
Jessica Carpenter's teammates wanted to recognize her for being such an inspiration. We went all the way to Smithfield for this High 5, and it was well worth it.
Jessica has two children with a rare form of muscular dystrophy. Every morning, when she hits the road to run with her relay teammates, she has a smile on her face, even though she often has been up all night taking care of her kids.
Her team wanted to say thank you for her example.
Becky Neilson said, "She keeps us motivated, keeps us going. And it puts life in perspective for us."
"It's people like my friends," Jessica said. "They keep me going. My kids keep me going, and I just have to for them."
As a thank you, Jessica got a gift basket from the Thanksgiving Point Emporium.
