Mary Richards, KSL NewsradioIf you've ever been to Deseret Industries, you know rule: Find the best deal imaginable and brag about it to your friends. Usually that means a shirt or maybe a TV stand, but one man's find beats them all.
A St. George man found eight books of FLDS sermons and writings at the Deseret Industries. He paid $40, but some book collectors say they could be worth thousands.
Rarebooks store owner Ken Sanders says the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is so secretive most of the printed materials don't leave the hands of church members. Sander says, "These volumes of handmade sermons aren't going to have as wide of an appeal, they're probably a lot rarer. But in terms of actually dollars, the market is going to be a lot smaller."
The books were stamped property of the Purgatory Correctional Facility. That's the jail where FLDS leader Warren Jeffs is being held. Jail officials say they get book donations, but they don't know how these books ended up at the secondhand store.
