(KSL News) An argument at a soccer game in West Jordan today led to a stabbing. Police say a large group of players and fans began arguing during a league game.

A bystander who jumped in to break things up got stabbed in the back.

Police believed his injuries were serious enough to fly him to the hospital.

Sgt. Mike Nunnelley of the West Jordan Police Department says, "Sometimes the competition gets a little heated but we emphasize it's just a game."

Two officers usually patrol that field, but the stabbing happened before they arrived.

He's expected to recover.

Detectives are talking to witnesses and trying to find the suspect.
