SALT LAKE CITY — Online retailer Overstock.com announced plans to open a software development center in Utah County early next year.
The company says it expects the center will employ 150 technologists, 100 of which it expects to bring aboard within 12 months.
"We are expanding our tech presence in Utah and actively recruiting," Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson said in a news release. "We have more innovation in the pipeline than we have developers. Utah is home to many incredible technologists, and this new office gives us access to more of them."
Overstock.com is directing interested applicants to www.overstock.com/javajobs for more information on the jobs. The company also says it will pay $5,000 to individuals referring qualified software developers which the company hires.
The company opened a new call center in Tooele in September. It also has three Salt Lake area facilities and currently employs more than 1,500 people in Utah.
