(KSL News) The Salt Lake City Council signed off on its general operating budget a little early this year.
Council members approved nearly $202 million for everything from new garbage cans to an energy-efficiency fund.
In past years the council has worked on the budget through the summer, pushing against the state-mandated deadline of the end of June.
Officials say the fact that county tax information came in on time, and the lack of argument over budget specifics helped get the money approved sooner.
