TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) -- A man has been killed after he was hit by a car while crossing the street in his wheelchair.

Authorities say 81-year-old Donald L. Hansen died yesterday morning.

Taylorsville Sergeant Rosie Rivera says Hansen turned into oncoming traffic near 4800 South and 1600 West and was hit by a car going westbound. She says there is NOT a designated crosswalk in the area, but most of the morning traffic had stopped to let him cross. However, she says, one driver apparently didn't see him, hitting him.

Hansen was flown to the University of Utah Medical Center in critical condition and later died from his injuries. Rivera says the investigation is complete and no charges have been filed.
