You may remember because it hasn't been that long ago, but in 2002, Utah hosted the most successful Winter Olympic Games in history. Since then, it's become a winter sports Mecca, and we've enjoyed five consecutive record-breaking seasons for skier days. We currently host around 4 million skier visits per season. You might also like to know Utah's ski resorts are rated as the best in the nation.
How many places in the continental United States do you know of that have quality skiing and year-round golf within a short driving distance of each other? Brian Head Resort just outside Cedar City can do both.
Only about 90 miles from the population center in Washington County and three hours from Las Vegas, those who don't see snow in their home town can still experience the greatest snow on earth. While it has plenty of runs for the more advanced, it also caters to beginners with an entire mountain dedicated to less experienced skiers. It also has a lift serve tubing hill so you don't have to hike all the way up the hill after sliding down it.
Did you know that Utah is home to the longest family-owned resort in the United States? That's right, Beaver Mountain, just 27 miles outside Logan, has been around since 1936. The Seeholzer family has worked hard to maintain and improve it over the years. And their hard work has paid off as skier days have increased every year.
It offers full-season ski rentals from a well-stocked ski shop which the public has loved! I was also impressed to discover that this resort has the only 100 percent volunteer ski patrol in the intermountain west. Owner Ted Seeholzer says the resort has been around for a long time, and he hopes to be here for many more years.
