Amanda Butterfield ReportingA church service at Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church was a little different today; a couple who has been married 70 years was honored. We talked to the couple, who is still in love after all these years, about how they've made it last.

At 89, Lucille Mattson is thankful she and her husband, Albert, 92, are still alive and together. She's a little surprised too. "I never thought we'd make it this long either," she said. "That's a long time!"

The two have seen a lot in their 70 years of marriage. "I wish I could live the next 70 years, cause so much has happened in our lifetimes," Lucille told KSL.

They've raised five kids and their family tree continues to grow. They have 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Through all the years, they've stayed happy and made their marriage work by never holding a grudge.

Albert said, "If we have an argument in the evening, we never wake up in the morning and discuss the same thing."

"Just keep on every day be a new day and start it and make your commitment last," Lucille added.

In February, they had a scare that Albert might not make it to another day -- he had a heart attack. "The doctor said we can't save him, we have to let him go," Lucille said. But she stayed by his side for three months while he recovered, because it was very important to both of them that they make it to this anniversary. Now that they have, they've got their sights set to another milestone, together of course!

"I think he's already inviting everyone to the next, 75th," Lucille says.

Their family was in the congregation today and performed a musical number. After the service there was a party for the two at the church.
