(KSL News) -- Volunteers spent the day helping women at a recovery center in Murray.

The Volunteers of America Detox Center helps women with children battle drug addiction and get off the streets.

The volunteers from accounting firm Deloitte and Touche worked around the facility, building and repairing outdoor areas, and also taught women about basic financial skills.

Bernie Storms with Volunteers of America said, "In recovery, women need to be responsible and take care of themselves, and finances is a huge part in their ability to be successful and not homeless."

Many of the volunteers say they did not know about the facility before spending the day as a volunteer and now feel more invested in the community
