SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man was charged Thursday with child kidnapping, a first-degree felony.
Raul Enrique Sanchez, 48, asked a 12-year-old girl from his neighborhood to look at his garage in spring of this year. When she followed him into the garage, he closed the door behind them and started kissing the girl on the neck and mouth, according to charging documents filed in 3rd District Court.
The girl told the man she needed to go home, but he proceeded to kiss her, documents state. The girl told Sanchez her mother really needed her home and he let her out with instructions not to tell anyone what happened.
Sanchez told police he "gave in to temptation," charges state, and "got caught up in emotions."
The girl and Sanchez currently reside in the same apartment complex.
Sanchez was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday. His bail is set at $100,000.
