SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah skiers and snowboarders are hitting the slopes today as the state's first resort opens for the season.
Although the terrain is limited, Brighton Ski Resort is open for business. The Big Cottonwood Canyon resort opened the season today with 20 inches of snow.
Although this year's bragging rights for earliest opening belongs to Brighton. Alta Ski Area intended to open today as well. However, the resort's spokeswoman says they decided to delay their opening day until they get another good-sized storm.
The Canyons is expected to open part of its mountain on Saturday. While, Park City Mountain Resort is expected to open next Wednesday.
Opening day lift tickets are 35 dollars. However, it will go up to 40 dollars and eventually 44 dollars when the whole mountain opens.
Brighton is open daily from nine a-m to four p-m.
