(KSL News) Starting tonight, Sandy Police will be getting a little help from residents in fighting crime.
Members of the new Volunteers in Police Service Mobile Watch Program will patrol the city in marked cars and will be able to communicate with officers by police radio.
All of those involved have been trained by the police department and instructed not to engage if they see a problem, but to call for back-up.
