(KSL News) A light plane crashed this morning, shortly after takeoff from the Canyonlands Airport, just north of Moab.

Emergency responders had to extricate pilot Arthur Royon, of Moab, from the single-engine plane.

A helicopter then flew him to a hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. Royon was in stable condition, and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Grand County Sheriff's Office and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting investigations.
