(KSL News) Formerly conjoined twin Maliyah Herrin could leave the hospital in the next few days.
The 5-year-old was rushed to the hospital with a high fever a week ago. Doctors said Maliyah's body was rejecting the new kidney she had received from her mother. Maliyah had been without a kidney after she was separated from her sister Kendra nine months ago.
Now, doctors say Maliyah appears to have adjusted to her medication. They say her new kidney is functioning well, and she could soon go home.
