PANGUITCH, Utah (AP) -- A prosecutor says a 54-year-old repeat child sex offender from Arizona will probably spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a Utah girl.
Garfield County Attorney Barry Huntington told the Deseret News for a Monday report that Brent Worthen was sentenced to six years to life in Utah State Prison.
Worthen pleaded guilty Thursday in 6th District Court in Panguitch to felony sodomy of a child.
Worthen had been on parole after being convicted in Arizona of molesting a young girl there.
Huntington says Worthen's plea spared the Utah girl from having to testify.
The Deseret News says Arizona's Maricopa County attorney's office will wait for Worthen to serve his Utah sentence before he serves five-to-15 years in Arizona for violating parole.
