Yeah, it has woven-in shrubbery. Yes, it has tassles. Yes, I'm a reasonably normal dude. And, yes, I'm wearing it.

Now, if you ask what possessed me to pay out for this thing, I don't know that I could tell you. Maybe it's my deep-seeded desire to be "in." Maybe because it cost a lot I thought it was cool. Maybe I just like shirts with shrubbery. Or, I'm a closet environmentalist.

Bottom line is, I really don't know. Yet, I'm wearing it. Sitting here in the newsroom. Doing what news people do. Typing on the laptop. Looking authoritative. Occasionally eavesdropping on others' conversations. I'm doing all that wearing the shrubbery shirt. So there.

On to other random thoughts, assertions and musings ...

- If you ever order a seven dollar piece of chocolate cake, order it for two. It can be kind of large, depending on where you go.

- Be careful ordering steaks at French restaurants. Sometimes there's a raw one mixed in.

- When the instructions on the nasal spray bottle say do not use for more than 3 days, they really don't mean for more than 3 years.

- I've learned it's better not to talk in the broadcast voice in off times around ordinary folks.

- How come sometimes you get a free t-shirt when you go to a crime scene?

- Roundabouts are the urban plague of the 21st century.

Don't believe this shirt draws its share of ire? Channel 5's Richard Piatt saw it, said he liked it, then tried to take the scissors to it. He tried to cut my tassels! Thanks for stopping him, Kerry Barrett. She knows quality shrubbery when she sees it.
