OREM, Utah (AP) -- The student body president at Utah Valley University is planning to raise money for two classmates by running in the St. George Marathon.

One student was raped, bludgeoned and left for dead in June on the Provo River Trail. Another woman was hit by a car while waiting for a bus on the first day of the fall semester.

Student president Richard Portwood is trying to raise money to help with the women's medical costs. He is seeking pledges for every mile he runs in the Oct. 2 marathon.
