FRISCO, Texas (AP) -- Chris Gbandi scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute to give FC Dallas a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday.

FC Dallas (5-3-1) extended its winning streak to three games while Real Salt Lake (0-3-4) remained winless.

FC Dallas took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute after Arturo Alvarez fired a left-footed shot from inside the top-left corner of the penalty box and into the right corner of the net. Alvarez went between two Real Salt Lake defenders before scoring an unassisted goal from about 16 yards for his first goal of the season.

FC Dallas captain Carlos Ruiz earned a one-game suspension when he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 73rd minute.

Real Salt Lake goalie Nick Rimando kept his team close with three saves including an outstanding save in the 33rd minute on a chip shot by Dominic Oduro where Rimando made a leaping save and deflected the ball with his fingertips to prevent a score.

The game was the first time that Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis, a former FC Dallas star, has coached against his former team.
