While the economy continues to recover and many people are searching for jobs, Carl Rupp is ready to help put people into business with Snowie shaved ice.
Carl was the first to introduce shaved ice to the Utah market 33 years ago. He discovered the treat while in St. Louis, Mo., serving a mission for the LDS Church. After he returned home, he built a stand, ordered a shaver and flavors and started his own shaved ice business. It was so successful that during the winter he built three more stands for the next summer that were also successful. At that point, people started asking if he could help them get into the shaved ice business. Carl invented his own shaver when his supplier began having difficulty meeting demand and created a partnership with his brother, Gordon, to start Snowie 13 years ago.
Snowie provides business opportunities for entrepreneurs with the help of carts, kiosks, concession trailers, and the newest shaved ice product, the Snowie bus. Buildings are mainly placed in one location while kiosks and carts are used for special events. Buses can be driven around neighborhoods and used for special events. To help lines move more quickly, Carl designed flavor stations where customers add their own flavoring to their shaved ice. The company has a selection of more than 80 flavor concentrates. Some of the newest options include Tamarindo and Mojito, but Tiger's Blood, Blue Raspberry and Strawberry Fresh remain favorites.
Snowie products can now be found in every state and many countries - even in people's homes. The Little Snowie, a miniature version of the shaved ice machine, is designed for personal use. Carl is excited to be facilitating a business opportunity with little hassle. Estela, Carl's wife, says they love helping families get into business for themselves.
Carl anticipates Snowie will continue to generate more interest, great shaved ice products and business opportunities.
