Utah State head coach Gary Andersen made it clear to me when I talked to him after Saturday's loss at Oklahoma - he does not believe in 'moral' victories. However, the coach was pleased with how his team reacted against the big bad Sooners.

"I'm not going to sit here and tell you that we knocked around Oklahoma by any stretch of the imagination but I am going to tell you we hung in there and hunkered down pretty good and our kids were flying to the football," Utah State Head Coach Gary Andersen said. "I thought our effort was unbelievable."

After coming within a touchdown of knocking off 7th ranked Oklahoma, Gary Andersen's main job this week in the home opener with Idaho State is to avoid a letdown.

"Trust me they have been told three times today," Andersen said. "The last 3 times Utah State and Idaho State have played each other from what I have been told that it's been 5 points or less."

Aggies and Wildcats play home openers on Saturday

While the Aggies prepare for a non conference home opener, Weber State opens up the Big Sky schedule against Northern Colorado in Ogden. After losing by 18 at Boston College on Saturday, the Wildcats will be looking for their first win of the young season and also will unveil their new lighting system in Stewart Stadium. Weber State Head Coach Ron McBride had his team practice under the new lights Wednesday night to get them used to the new surroundings.

According to Weber State athletic director Jerry Bovee, Weber State's stadium lights are now 'national broadcast' quality. One other interesting note about the new lights, they are turned on and off by a company in Iowa. Weber State personnel can log on to the computer and have the Iowa company dim the lights, turn select lights on or bring them down to a soft glow.

Both the Aggies and Wildcats kick off Saturday at 6pm.
