PROVO -- A man is dead following a rollover accident on Interstate 15 in Utah County Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. in a construction zone near the Provo Center Street exit. Utah Highway Patrol troopers believe one of the drivers involved may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Witnesses told troopers they saw a Toyota Corolla driving erratically in the center southbound lane when it suddenly crossed over into the right lane and hit a Pontiac Grand Prix.

The Pontiac bounced off the right-side retaining wall and rolled across the southbound lanes, coming to a rest in the median.

The 71-year-old driver of the Pontiac died at the scene. His 39-year-old female passenger was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

The driver or the Toyota was checked out by medical personnel and released. Troopers then arrested the 58-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI.

"As far as drinking and driving goes, we have a zero tolerance against that," said UHP Trooper Todd Johnson. "People need to be extremely careful when it comes to medications and what they're taking."

Results on what the driver of the Toyota may have had in her system will not be available for several weeks.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released, pending notification of family.
