I feel sorry for my wife as she has had to put up with me going crazy in our living room while watching the playoffs. I’m usually a calm person, but there’s something about the playoffs that turns me into a person easily irritated by pour passing and missed opportunities in the lane.

Thursday night I was amazed to see the drama that unfolded in the come from behind jazz victory over the Warriors. First the frustration of two early fouls on Williams. Then D. Brown goes to the hospital. At this point I’m sweating bullets wondering if the Jazz can keep up. But in storybook fashion, the team does keep up with the running Warriors which all builds up the heroic return of Derek Fisher.

What an amazing guy. He flies in from New York after spending a terrible week worrying that he might lose his infant daughter and jumps into the game and plays incredible defense. I loved the response from the crowd and the players. And of course the night was sealed when Fisher hit his three pointer and helped with the overtime win.

It was one of those nights I just couldn’t get enough. Its nice every once in a while to forget about the drug raids, plane crashes, and comments on religion and presidential candidates and escape into a world where the only thing that matters is if a small round ball find its way through a net.

Ahhhhh. Ok, now it’s time to get back to that other stuff. And yes that other stuff is important because if we don’t know what’s happening around us we’ll never do anything to change it.
