SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Department of Public Safety says it has fixed a glitch in a report of crime statistics and finds that the state is still a safer place.

The state pulled the report earlier this week because of a formatting error that skewed some of the data.

According to the new tally released Wednesday, about 350 fewer crimes were reported in 2009 than in 2007. And the total has dropped by about 2,400 since 2007.

The report says the number of juvenile arrests last year was down nearly 13 percent, but rapes increased slightly from 2008.
