(KSL News) A teenage girl who pleaded guilty to killing her newborn child in 2002 now wants to withdraw that plea.
Lawyers for the girl, who was 15 at the time, say she was unaware of what she was doing because of a learning disability. They claim that the girl thought she was pleading to neglect, not murder. Prosecutors say the plea deal was explained to the girl several times.
The Utah Supreme Court heard arguments on the case yesterday. It will issue a ruling in the coming months.
