CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- A Southern Utah University wide receiver has been arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence.

Twenty-one-year-old Dane E. Westmoreland was booked into the Iron County Jail about 2:30 a.m. Sunday after being arrested by Cedar City police.

A jail supervisor says Westmoreland, of Salt Lake City, posted a $1,332 bond a few hours later and was released.

Police Sgt. Jerry Womack says Westmoreland was initially stopped for speeding, but failed a field sobriety test. Womack says Westmoreland also refused a breathalyzer test.

Results of a blood alcohol won't be available for several weeks.

SUU Athletic Director Ken Beazer was still gathering information about the incident yesterday. He says the school does not take the accusations lightly and that disciplinary action is possible.

It was unclear today if Westmoreland had hired an attorney.
