(KSL News) Two brothers wanted by police are behind bars. A stolen car they were driving gave them away.

Sgt. Bob Rogers of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said, "It's a county-owned vehicle. Not sure what department it belongs to, but it doesn't belong to the sheriff's office."

An off-duty officer who lives in the Cottonwood Heights area noticed that vehicle drive by, thought it looked suspicious and called 911. His intuition turned out to be right.

Deputies spotted the car again in Murray a short time later, but the driver took off. He crashed into another car, then the brothers ditched the SUV.

Deputies found one of the men trying to run away at the ramp to the I-215 belt route by Highland Drive. He had some scrapes and went to the hospital. Authorities found his brother hiding in a nearby barn.

Police found drugs in the SUV.

Both men had outstanding felony warrants.
