(KSL News) -- Police say a man called in three different bomb threats this afternoon from the Wal-Mart at 13th south and 3rd west. One was at the Social Security building downtown, another at the VA hospital.

Crews spotted a backpack by a telephone pole near VA, and the bomb squad sent in a robot to detonate the backpack. The backpack had no explosives, but police weren't taking any chances.

Salt Lake City police lieutenant Lamar Ewell said, "We want to be very cautious in light of things that have happened across the nation, and we don't want to take any chances."

Police are still trying to track down the man who made the threats.
