Prosecutors charged Oscar Reyes with one count of homicide by domestic assault, a third-degree felony. According to the charges filed Friday in 3rd District Court, Reyes fought with his 34-year-old girlfriend, Deborah Haudley, while at the Gateway Inn on Monday night.

Reyes is accused of hitting Haudley in the face. Prosecutors say he found her dead next to him in bed in the morning.

Prosecutors sought bail of $100,007 because they consider Reyes a flight risk. He's facing deportation to Mexico.

A spokeswoman for the Salt Lake County Jail Saturday said she's unsure whether Reyes has an attorney yet.
