Paul Nelson, KSL Newsradio There's a growing trend in the field of computer repair. More Web sites are popping up that let a technician take over your computer online to fix your problem.

The ability for a computer technician to take over one computer from a remote location used to be just for internal I.T. networks. Now, Web sites like computeroverhauls.com and pcpinpoint.com let technicians fix any computer they want.

ABCAN computers operations support manager Chris Bryant says the service is very limited, though, and can only fix small problems. "Their ability to remote in and do the job speeds up the process [and] lowers overhead with large companies," he says.

"You have to have a computer that's healthy enough to open an Internet session and run an application so they can take control of the computer," Bryant explains.

If your computer won't even turn on, Web sites are a moot point. These Web sites could charge up to $69 per problem.
