Brandon Wood homered in the bottom of the twelfth inning to give the Salt Lake Bees a 6-5 win over the Las Vegas 51s on Friday night. Wood, who was hitless in eight at-bats to start the season, lofted a 2-1 pitch from Luis Gonzalez over the left field wall to give the Bees their second straight last at-bat victory.

Salt Lake trailed 4-2 with two out in the bottom of the ninth when Mike Eylward delivered a two run single to send the game into extra innings. Las Vegas scored a run in the top of the 10th on a double by Delwyn Young, but the Bees tied it when Brandon Wood scored from second on an errant pickoff throw by catcher Ken Huckaby.

Matt Wilhite (1-0) worked a 1-2-3 top of the 12th inning for the win. Salt Lake starter Henry Bonilla pitched five scoreless innings while allowing five hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Las Vegas committed two errors that led to three unearned runs for the Bees.
