(KSL News) Attorneys for polygamist leader Warren Jeffs have asked a judge to throw some of the evidence against him out of court.
They question the legality of the arrest because the highway patrol trooper who pulled him over said he did it because the license plate was not properly displayed. Defense attorneys say police photos of the Jeffs vehicle prove the plate was visible. So they want the judge in the case to throw out all the evidence they obtained from that arrest. That would include all statements Jeffs made that night.
Warren Jeffs is in jail awaiting trial on charges of rape as accomplice for arranging a marriage between a 14-year-old girl and an older man.
