SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- EnergySolutions Inc. and its executives have donated $25,000 into U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop's re-election campaign since April.
The company is fighting a bill in Congress that would block its attempt to import foreign radioactive waste to Utah. Bishop is a former lobbyist for the company.
EnergySolutions has donated more than one-third of all money raised by Bishop in the 2nd quarter.
Bishop's opponent, Democrat Morgan Bowen, says the Salt Lake City-based company is not just supporting a candidate -- it's buying one.
But Bishop's Chief of Staff Scott Parker says that Bishop only makes decisions with his constituents in mind and based on what he believes is right.
