It's no monkey business. Some Salt Lake voters will vote at Hogle Zoo on Election Day, while a proposition about the zoo is on the ballot.
At the entrance to the zoo's parking lot are three campaign signs for "Renew the zoo." Some people are worried that it looks like a conflict of interest to vote over the $33 million bond with the animals standing nearby. They're concerned that people may feel compelled to vote for the real elephant in the room.
But the zoo says it'll keep campaign materials away from voters on Election Day.
The county clerk put two precincts at the zoo because she says there's no room anywhere else this year. She points out that people voted on vouchers at public schools.
