Not only did Democrats make gains in Washington, they scored a big victory in Salt Lake County.
Democrats now have the majority in the Salt Lake County Council. Democratic Mayor Peter Corroon also easily won re-election last night.
He thanked the voters and others. "Of course the members of my administration, and all the great county employees whose shoulders I stand on," he said.
He'll be working with a Democrat-controlled council. Jani Iwamoto flipped the balance by ousting Republican Mark Crockett.
