SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Rep. David Clark of Santa Clara is the new House speaker.

House Republicans elected new leaders Tuesday to serve for two years. Clark replaces House Speaker Greg Curtis, who lost his seat in the Legislature to Democratic challenger Jay Seegmiller of Sandy.

Clark had previously served as House majority leader. The new majority leader is Rep. Kevin Garn, R-Layton.

Rounding the Republican leadership team in the House is Majority Whip Brad Dee, R-Ogden, and Majority Assistant Whip Becky Lockhart, R-Provo.
