SALT LAKE CITY -- Last week, Utah House Majority Leader Kevin Garn resigned after admitting to a hot tubbing incident 25 years ago with then 15-year-old Cheryl Maher.
Wednesday night, several lawmakers met in a closed-door meeting in the majority caucus room to discuss the matter.
House of Representatives Chief of Staff Christopher Bleak had this exchange with a reporter.
Reporter: "Is the speaker going to be available?"
Bleak: "No."
Reporter: "What's going on?"
Bleak: "Nothing. It was good, so I won't say anything."
Bleak later released a statement that says, in part: "We respect former Rep. Garn's decision to resign and believe it was appropriate. While not condoning the action, we wish for closure and healing for Cheryl Maher and the Garn family."
