Bassist Christian McBride has been named creative chair for jazz at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn., succeeding vocalist Dianne Reeves.

One of the most acclaimed bassists to emerge in the past decade, McBride will oversee jazz programming at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl during his two-year tenure, starting with the Bowl's 2006 season. He will work with the organization year-round, building on the Philharmonic's presence in the musical community as a presenter of jazz.

Reeves completes her third season as creative chair for jazz with the Walt Disney Concert Hall's 2005-06 season: Pat Metheny Trio and Quartet on Sept. 24; Django Reinhardt Festival on Nov. 16; music from "My Fair Lady" on Dec. 4; Wayne Shorter with the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Jan. 28; Maria Schneider Orchestra on Feb. 8; and Wynton Marsalis on Oct. 30, 2006.
