(KSL News) The Salt Lake City Public Utilities Department reports water rates will go up by four percent starting July 1. That means Salt Lake City residents will see an average increase of $1.12.

This year's increase follows last year's four percent jump.

Officials say the rate hike will help pay for larger water lines to improve fire protection.
