BEAVER, Utah (AP) -- Never seen a mountain goat in the wild? Odds are good you can glimpse one early next month.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting an annual event for the public to see mountain goats on the Tushar Mountains east of Beaver.
The event is free. State wildlife officials will provide viewing equipment that may or may not be needed. In the past, some goats have gotten within 35 feet from those in the viewing area.
Up to 100 mountain goats are expected to be in the area Aug. 8.
State officials will meet the public at 8 a.m. at the convenience store at exit 109 off Interstate 15. From there, the group will caravan to the top of the Tushar Mountains where the goats typically are spotted this time of year.
