SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah wide receiver Darren Carrington II has found a landing spot in the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys announced the signing of two receivers Monday afternoon, adding Carrington to the roster to replace rookie wideout Marchie Murdock following an injury in the Cowboys’ first preseason game.

Carrington caught 66 passes for 918 yards and six touchdowns in his lone season at Utah after transferring from Oregon.

Elsewhere in the NFL, former Utah wide receiver Dres Anderson was waived by the Colts late Sunday night. The 26-year-old Anderson signed a reserve/future contract with Indianapolis on Jan. 1 after spending time on the practice squads with the Colts (2017), Washington (2017), Chicago (2016) and San Francisco (2016).

Anderson signed a rookie contract with the 49ers in 2015, but spent the entire season on the injured reserve list.

Anderson played just four offensive snaps in the Colts’ 19-17 preseason win over the Seahawks last Thursday.

With Carrington’s signing, 84 former high school or college football players in Utah are currently on an NFL roster in 2018.
