TREMONTON, Box Elder County — A quickly spreading wildfire that ignited in Box Elder County on Friday afternoon closed I-84 from Snowville to Tremonton.

Both directions of I-84 were closed between the two towns, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

The fire, which started about 4:30 p.m., was burning 7,000 acres by late evening, state fire officials said.

Officials reported no containment of the blaze late Friday. No evacuations were ordered.
