SALT LAKE CITY — Summer is in full swing and it seems like school is right around the corner, but there's still plenty to do throughout Utah before you pack up those backpacks and pick out school clothes.

Here are events happening throughout Utah in August to help you end your summer in style, organized by region.

Northern Utah

Aug. 2-4: Ogden Pride Festival

The Ogden Pride Festival will feature a variety of events at locations throughout Ogden. The main festival on Saturday runs 12 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 E. 25th St. Admission is free. Check the website for details on event locations and times.

Aug. 5 - Sept. 30: Snowbasin Blues, Brews & BBQ

Snowbasin Resort is again hosting its "Blues, Brews and BBQ" summer concert series, running every Sunday through the end of September. The free event goes from 12 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at Snowbasin, 3925 Snow Basin Rd., Huntsville. This month's artists are:

  • Aug. 5: Dirty Revival / King Cardinal /Jordan Matthew Young
  • Aug. 12: Red Molly / Jeff Crosby and the Refugees / New Sound Underground
  • Aug. 19: Jon Wayne and the Pain/ Groovement/ Folk Hogan
  • Aug. 26: Jelly Bread / The Battlefield / Slings & Arrows
Aug. 9: Tour of Utah

Davis County will host the start and finish line of stage three of the week-long Tour de France-style bike race. The race begins at 11 a.m. at Antelope Island State Park’s Historic Garr Ranch and will end around 3:30 p.m. at Layton Commons Park, 437 N. Wasatch Dr.

Aug. 8-11: Weber County Fair

The Weber County Fair features concerts, multiple rodeos and a demolition derby, among other activities. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and range from $2-$20. Kids ages 5 and under get in for free. Admission includes all rodeos, but the MMA fight and demolition derby require additional tickets (which include fair admission). The fair is located at the Weber County Fairgrounds, 1000 N. 1200 West in Ogden, and is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Aug. 15-18: Davis County Fair

The Davis County Fair will be held at the fairgrounds located at 151 S. 1100 West in Farmington. It will include live entertainment, carnival rides, food booths, a rodeo and a sea lion exhibit. Visit the website for the schedule with times of each event.

Salt Lake Area

Aug. 2-11: Midvale Harvest Days

The Midvale Harvest Days offer a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment during its week-long festivities. On Aug. 2, 4, 6 and 7, neighborhood block parties will be held throughout Midvale. Then the fun continues with activities from Wednesday to Saturday including bingo, a 5K race, a parade, fireworks and live entertainment. Visit the website for more information and specific times and locations.

Aug. 3-4: St. Patrick’s Annual Carnival Fundraiser

This family-friendly carnival presented by St. Patrick's Parish features ethnic food, live entertainment, games and more. Entry to the carnival is free. The fundraiser is located at St. Patrick’s Parish, 1058 W. 400 South in Salt Lake City, and runs from 3 p.m.-10 p.m.

Aug. 9-11: Salt Lake County Fair

The Salt Lake County Fair will include field games, mutton bustin', a barbecue competition and more at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Fairgrounds, 2100 W. 11400 South, South Jordan. Opening times vary by day; see the schedule online. Admission is free.

Aug. 10-12: Craft Lake City DIY Festival

Salt Lake City’s 10th-annual do-it-yourself festival will take place at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St. The festival will feature more than 250 local artisans, along with vintage vendors, craft food creators, DIY engineers, kids crafts and activities, food, restaurants, exhibits and more. Tickets start at $5.

Festival hours are the following:

  • Aug 10: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Aug 11: 12 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Aug 12: 12 p.m.-7 p.m.
Aug. 11: Salt Lake City Tacofest

Tacos, giveaways and live music will be available to the public from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Centro Civico Mexico, 155 S. 600 West in Salt Lake. Adult tickets are $5 and children under 13 can enter for free. The event benefits Meals on Wheels.

Aug. 15: Zoo Brew

Hogle Zoo, 2600 Sunnyside Ave., is hosting Zoo Brew for adults from 6:30p.m.-9 p.m. All proceeds from the monthly event go toward helping endangered animals, with August dedicated to endangered zebras. Admission is $16.95 and drink tickets are $5. Dinner and snack options will be available for purchase. Attendees must be 21 and older with a valid ID to enter.

Aug. 16-Sept. 13: Twilight Concert Series

The annual Twilight Concert Series is taking place at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main Street. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased online. This month's lineup is as follows:

  • Aug. 16: Diplo
  • Aug. 23: Robert DeLong
  • Aug. 30: Moon Taxi
Aug. 18: Snowbird’s Oktoberfest Kick-off

Snowbird's Oktoberfest begins Aug. 18 and will be held every Saturday and Sunday (plus Labor Day) through Oct. 21. The event celebrates German culture and will feature ethnic food, live music, a large variety of beer, games and activities for the family. Parking costs $10 and Snowbird recommends carpooling due to the popularity of the event. Hours are 12 p.m.-6 p.m.

Aug. 18-19: Utah Beer Festival

Utah’s ninth-annual and largest beer festival will include more than 200 different beers and ciders, live music, food vendors, games and more. The event will take place from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Utah State Fair Park, 155 N. 1000 West in Salt Lake City. Tickets range from $5-$45.

Aug. 25: Blue Moon Festival

This free event's featured musicians for 2018 are Changing Lanes Experience and Red Rock Hot Club. The event also features the work of local craftspeople and artisans and food from local culinary artists. Freshly made food will also be available. The festival takes place from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Holladay City Hall Park, 4580 S. 2300 East in Salt Lake City.

Utah County

Now - Aug. 11: "Oklahoma"

The Sundance Mountain Resort Summer Theatre is hosting the popular musical "Oklahoma" at 8 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through Aug. 11. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $22 - $38. The theater is located at 8841 N. Alpine Loop Road in Sundance. Doors open at 7 p.m.

July 28-Aug. 4: Santaquin Orchard Days

Parades, movies, bounce houses, food and craft vendors, tours, derbies and more will be at the Santaquin Orchard days. A full list of events and locations can be found online.

July 31-Aug. 4: Springville World Folkfest

Three hundred traditional folk dances and music will occur daily at the Springville Arts Park, 620 S. 1350 East in Springville. Performers come from countries all over the world to perform dances from their native countries. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $5-$30. Children ages 3 and under are free.

Aug. 3: Payson Salmon Supper

The 64th Annual Payson Salmon Supper will be held at Payson City Memorial Park, 300 S. Main St., from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Grilled salmon, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and more will be sold for $16 per plate. A ticket order form must be filled in beforehand. New this year will be craft and entertainment booths.

Aug. 4: Wasatch Wellness Run

The Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital is hosting its 13th annual Wasatch Wellness Run at 2119 E. Provo Canyon Road in Provo. Winners of the 10K and 5K races will receive cash prizes. A breakfast will be served to runners, and a family fun fair will be available to people of all ages. Registration is $15-$40 and can be done online.

Aug. 4-11: Alpine City Days

Sports, art, music, storytelling, parades, chalk art, car shows and more are just a few of the activities taking place at the Alpine City Days. Most activities are free and tickets for others can be purchased online. A full list and schedule of events can be found online.

Aug. 4: Run 4 Refugees

This 5K and 10K race to raise awareness about refugees begins at 8 a.m. at Sky Ridge High School, 3000 N. Center St. in Lehi. Registration is $10-30 and can be done online.

Aug. 11: Eagle Mountain Street Fair

Over 100 local businesses will be available for shopping at Eagle Mountain’s Street Fair, located on Peregrine Road. Arts, crafts, food, clothing, books, furniture and other products will be available for purchase from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Aug. 15-18: Utah County Fair

The Utah County Fair will be held at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, 475 S. Main St., and feature a monster truck show, a demolition derby, a talent show and concerts by Gary Allan, Lauren Alaina and Raelynn. Admission to the Utah County Fair and rodeo is free, and tickets for other events start at $8.

Festival hours are the following:

  • Aug 15: 4 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Aug 16-18: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Aug. 20-24: BYU Education Week

Tickets are now available to attend Brigham Young University’s education week, a program for people ages 14 and older. Participants can take classes on arts, history, marriage and family, religion, education, communication and more. A full list of classes and times can be found online. Tickets range from $25-$78.

Central Utah

Aug. 16-18: Manti Mountain ATV-UTV Run

People have the chance to ride their ATVs through Manti’s canyons on the Arapeen OHV Trail System. Free breakfast and dinner are available to registrants. The event starts at 200 N. 400 West. Participants can register online for $50.

Aug. 22-25: Beaver County Fair

Races, exhibits, contests, demolition derbies, prizes, food, music, dancing and more will be held at the Beaver County Fair. The event is free to the public. Times and locations for events can be found online.

Southern Utah

Now-Oct. 13: Utah Shakespeare Festival

Tickets are available to see a wide variety of plays during Cedar City’s Utah Shakespeare Festival, located at 300 W. Center St. Plays include "Othello," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "The Merchant of Venice," "The Foreigner" and more. Tickets can be purchased online.

Aug. 4 and Aug. 8-11: Kane County Fair

Parades, games, bounce houses, zip lines, exhibits, contests, dancing, concerts, displays and much more will take place at the Kane County Fair. The fair is free to the public, and a full list of events and their locations can be found online.

Aug. 25: Bryce Canyon Fly-In and Car Show

This event will feature cars, planes, trophies and live music from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and is located at the Bryce Canyon Airport. Registration for the Canyon 2 Canyon Bike Ride begins at 6:50 a.m., is free and can be done online.

Aug. 3-Oct. 20: Tuacahn Shows

Tuacahn has a variety of outdoor plays running during August including "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella," "Matilda the Musical," and "The Prince of Egypt," among others. Tickets start at $29. Visit their website for specific show times and prices.

Eastern Utah

Aug. 1-4: Emery County Fair

Water games, horseshoe tournaments, drag races games, dance competitions, food and more activities for adults and children alike will also be available during this county fair. The event is free to the public. Ned LeDoux will perform Aug. 4 at 7:30; tickets are $5-$10 and can be purchased online.

Aug. 3-4: Spring City Bluegrass Festival

Various bluegrass musicians will perform as part of this two-day event in Spring City at 150 E. Center. Tickets range from $5-$64 and can be purchased online.

Aug. 7-11: Carbon County Fair

The Carbon County Fair will include barrel racing, 4-H exhibits, a quilt show, animal expo and more. Event times and locations can be found online.

Aug. 11: Heber Outdoor Festival

Attendees can enjoy workshops as well as 50+ vendors from some of the top manufacturers and retailers in the outdoor industry at the Heber Outdoor Festival, held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Hamlet Park, 850 E. Main St. There will also be youth casting classes and the annual Provo River Kids Fly Fishing Derby. Admission is free.

Aug. 13-18: Wayne County Fair

Food and craft vendors, live music and more will be part of this “barnyard beach party” The event takes place daily at the Loa Town Park from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nathan Osmond will perform Aug. 17 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, UT-24.

Aug. 31-Sept. 1: Midway Swiss Days

Guests can enjoy entertainment, craft and goods vendors and food at Midway Swiss Days, held at the Midway Town Square (1st and Main St.). Admission is free.
