HILDALE, Washington County — A crash involving a UTV and an SUV left two juveniles in critical condition and five other people with injuries on Saturday, officials confirmed.

The crash took place just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Uzona Avenue and Mulberry Street on the west side of Hildale, according to Colorado City-Hildale Fire Chief Kevin Barlow.

Five juveniles were in the UTV, a John Deere Gator, traveling north on Mulberry Street, Barlow said.

The vehicle came to the intersection and should have stopped, but continued through, Barlow said. The SUV was traveling west on Uzona Avenue and collided with the UTV, he said.

Two juveniles were taken to a hospital in critical condition, and three others had serious but non-life threatening injuries, Barlow said. Three people were in the SUV and two of them were transported to a hospital with injuries, he added. Barlow did not know the condition of those two people.

Uzona is a paved road, while Mulberry is a dirt side road, Barlow said.

Hildale police also responded to the crash, and Hurricane Fire and Rescue sent an ambulance, Barlow said.

He did not have any further information about the people in the UTV, such as their exact ages or genders. Barlow also did not know if they were wearing any protective gear at the time of the crash.
