LEHI — A local towing software company, Omadi, has teamed up with Utah Highway Patrol to share a special message for drivers: to slow down and move over when workers or first responders are on the side of the road.

Omadi released a heart-throbbing video of a towing operator who didn't come home to his family one night after working roadside.

The "Slow Down & Move Over" campaign is designed to remind drivers that behind every roadside assistant is a family waiting for them to come home.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said at least three people die each day while working roadside — from road construction and tow operators to first responders.

UHP is reminding drivers that obeying the law by simply slowing down and moving over to the next lane could save a life.

According to Omadi, one tow operator dies every six days, one police officer dies every month and five firefighters are killed roadside in America.

"We hope that these efforts will curb the loss of lives by increasing public awareness," said Charles Lukens, CEO of Omadi.
