SALT LAKE CITY — Residents in two more zones that were previously evacuated near the Dollar Ridge Fire were allowed to return home on Sunday morning, officials report.

The fire had burned 49,789 acres, or about 78 square miles, and was 35 percent contained as of Sunday evening.

At 9 a.m., some residents in evacuation Zone 2 were allowed to return home, fire officials announced on Inciweb, the federal fire information website. The area east of Lower Red Creek Road on the south side of U.S. 40 was open to Strawberry River Road for residents to enter through. Returning residents will need to stay off Lower Red Creek Road.

The evacuations will still be in place for Camelot Resort, as well as the Strawberry Pinnacles and Avintaquin Canyon areas.

At 11 a.m., residents in evacuation Zone 4 were allowed to go back home. Homebound residents can enter through the area south of U.S. 40 to the Currant Creek River. There will be no access in the area south of Currant Creek River, and access to Currant Creek Road from U.S. 40 is not allowed, officials say.

Residents in both zones 2 and 4 should remain on pre-evacuation status and be prepared to leave again if fire circumstances change.

This story will be updated throughout the day.
